Untitled (Winter 2008)

Charlie’s got herself a bit of a reputation.

But quite frankly, Charlie doesn’t care.

Intelligent, successful, gorgeous and gregarious, Charlie has it all – including almost every guy she’s ever wanted. She simply can’t see the appeal in marriage, co-habitation and babies (ugh), nor understand her friends’ protestations that she’s somehow missing out by Not Settling Down. Surely there are more enjoyable reasons for tolerating sleepless nights than those midnight feedings?

Will remains the only man in her adult life to have turned her down. Although it delights their mutual acquaintances – a long standing joke between long lasting friends – it secretly drives her crazy. He remains amused but impervious to her (multiple) attempts to get him into bed, while she’s driven to distraction that her tried and tested techniques - usually so reliable - fail every single time.

It takes fifteen years and an accidental glimpse of the real Charlie – the one without the bravado, bluster and blusher – for her to finally, and quite unexpectedly, get him. That Him. The Him. All too late, she realises how better off she was without him . . .
